Advanced wound treatments influence healing processes, however the optimal treatment parameters to guide therapy remain unknown.

External stimulation of wounds with light (photobiomodulation), negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and electrical stimulation (ES) are studied, for the first time, in combination.

Treatment-dose response relationships will be determined using a wounded tissue model in experiments in vitro.

A wound system mathematical model and engineering control approaches will define parameters for individualized treatment.

Therapy support: Control processes

Treatment-dose responses may be bi-phasic, where low doses activate healing, while higher doses inhibit. Establishing a mathematical model of the wound system allows modulation and control of wound healing therapy.
